The Charles River Dam (2019)

The Charles River Dam is a 2-channel video installation that explores how human-made structures interact with pre-existing natural environments where they were built. In this work, I focus on the end of the Charles River’s lower basin, examining the Charles River Dam located between Charleston and North End in Boston, Massachusetts. This location serves as an example of how human activities influence and control the natural environment.

Through this work, I aim to use contemplation as a means to raise questions about the dam, the types of human activities that occur in this space, and how they are connected to the local environment.
