Green is not always good (2021)

Green is not always good is one of two artworks (see also Blooming Bacteria) resulting from my interest in the environmental condition of the rivers that flow through Boston, specifically, the Charles and Muddy rivers.

Green is not always good consists of a series of video projections that took place during the spring of 2021 along the Charles and Muddy rivers in Boston, Massachusetts. These public-space interventions aimed to draw the public's attention to the cyanobacteria blooms in these rivers.

My intention with these interventions was to add new layers of meaning to these rivers, making the most of their capacity to serve as objects of contemplation. Through video projection, I sought to shift their role from recreational spaces to platforms for showcasing satirical environmental messages.

A series of posters, each with a QR code, were printed and distributed as part of the project's outreach. Scanning the QR code directs participants to a series of resources about cyanobacteria blooms in Boston, as well as opportunities to engage with local organizations working on this issue.

Green is not always good was featured in the exhibition 2021 MFA Spring Thesis at MassArt X SoWa.
